Drink Protein Shakes

With a busy schedule, it’s not always easy to plan meals and cook all the time. This can make it difficult to practice healthy eating habits. If you’re incorporating workouts into your schedule, it’s even more important to feed your muscles well for recovery to build them back up and create even stronger muscles than you started with. A good way to accomplish this is through upping your intake of protein. It is a general rule that between 10 to 15 percent of your daily total calories should come from protein. So, if you’re taking in around 2,000 calories a day, at least 200 of that should come from protein.

Healthy foods that are rich in protein aren’t always easy to grab on the go. One big staple in my diet that I rely on is protein shakes. There are lots of different proteins out on the market that promise great results for everything from weight loss to nutritional benefits, but I swear by Visalus protein and drink at least two shakes a day because of the energy and amount of protein it gives me, and the fact that it tastes great! It makes a great meal replacement if I don’t have much time to whip together a meal and I can make all different kinds of shakes so I never get bored with them. I put fruit, yogurt, different flavors of pudding mixes, different stuff everyday and come up with new shake recipes daily. It’s a lot of fun and a great source of vitamins and nutrients. Below is a recipe and a picture of my latest little mix I put together, just in time for fall…

Pumpkin Spice Vi Shake:

8oz almond milk
1 banana
Some pumpkin spice pudding mix
2 scoops vi-shake mix (Any type of powdered protein will do)
A few ice cubes

Blend together and enjoy!
